walking from the Estill County High School to downtown Irvine

It is a shame that there isn't a wider shoulder to the Winchester Road so students from Estill County High School could walk to downtown Irvine KY if needed. In fact, the Winchester and Spout Springs Roads aren't very pedestrian friendly. It is time that Estill Countians complain more about these 2 roads. Until we complain louder, nothing is going to happen.

If you live in Irvine and work in Stanton or Mount Sterling, you hope and pray that you don't have a breakdown. There is nowhere to pull off of the road should this happen. There is no room to talk on the cell phone if needed.

I have grandchildren at Estill CO. High School, & I do not think they need to walk to down town Irvine .Children do not need to be walking on the highways , especially in this day & time.
There are many valid reasons for improvements in the Highways in Estill Co. I just think this isn't one of them.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I see your point. Yet many students walk from Madison Central High School along 2nd street in Richmond thanks to sidewalks and slower traffic.

Trying to walk past the Joseph Proctor Bypass intersection could be dangerous.

The Winchester Road is a dangerous road. I could name a long list of young people who were slaughtered on this road. I hope and pray that this dangerous road will be replaced by a more modern highway.
