I heard several years ago that the Irvine-Winchester Road (KY 89) North would be reconstructed between the Joseph Proctor bypass and 1000 feet north of the Estill County Middle School. Yet no construction has taken place. Nothing in the papers have indicated when this project will commence. Why?
This road is vital to Estill County in many ways. Evacuations from the county due to leaks in nerve gas, access to the schools and industrial park, and finally a wider road is needed to accomodate big trucks to and from the local landfill.
We must pressure Frankfort to start respecting the transportation needs of Estill County.
